Shannon McGinnis, LPC

As a mental health counselor, I truly enjoy walking with people in their journeys to self-discovery and positive transformation.

My priority is to build strong therapeutic relationships with my clients by creating a safe and comfortable space where they feel heard and understood. I understand that sharing personal stories can be difficult, so I work with my clients at their own pace. I utilize a variety of techniques and interventions to create a holistic approach tailored to each individual’s needs. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), primarily used in treating trauma.

My main clinical focus is working with adults who have experienced trauma caused by such things as abuse, sexual assault, war, dysfunctional family systems/relationship issues, or racial tension. I also see adults, who are primarily dealing with life transitions, depression, and/or anxiety.

I graduated from Xavier University with a Master of Education in Community and Agency Counseling. In the past, I have provided case management services, in-home therapy with children and families, and managed care coordination. I have prior experience in the treatment of eating disorders.

When I’m not working, my dog and I volunteer as a registered pet therapy team. Because of this work, you can often find him with me at the office. (He is lovingly referred to as the Creekside mascot!)

Let me help you find the joy and fulfillment you deserve!
