Shannon McGinnis, LPC

As a mental health counselor, I truly enjoy walking with people in their journeys to discover and make the changes they want.

My approach to the therapeutic relationship is client-focused, taking time to build rapport and create space for clients to share their stories, when and how they want. I am holistic in my approach, utilizing a variety of techniques and interventions that are geared toward each individual client. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), used primarily in treating trauma.

My main clinical focus is working with adults who have experienced trauma, whether that’s trauma caused by abuse, rape, war, dysfunctional family systems, relationship issues, or racial tension. I also see adults, who are primarily dealing with life transitions, depression, and/or anxiety.

I graduated from Xavier University with a Master of Education in Community and Agency Counseling. In the past, I have provided case management services, in-home therapy with children and families, and managed care coordination. I have prior experience in the treatment of eating disorders.

Let me help you discover the fulfillment and joy you desire.
